Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Preference will be given to candidates with A+, Net+, Sec+, Microsoft and CISCO certifications. Current valid driver’s license is required. 5 to 6 years of work experience (typically in computer science or networking).

General Purpose

With general supervision, provides administrative and technical support for installed computer hardware, software and phone system.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Works toward quality initiatives.
  • Assists with maintenance of local area network (LAN) workstations and physical connections.
  • Maintains telephone system and associated personal computers (PC’s).
  • Assists with maintenance of all corporate data communication lines (voice, data).
  • Provides backup support for printing systems output.
  • Provides backup support for LAN operating system software and all network application software, security and access rights.
  • Maintains all computer hardware and attached devices (scanners, printers, etc).
  • Performs maintenance and administration of LAN backup system.
  • Assists with maintenance and administration of VPN connections to regional offices.
  • Assists with maintenance and administration of LAN patch management system and LAN anti-virus/anti-mal-ware system.

Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensures documentation is appropriate, accurate and up to date.
  • Assists user departments in defining computer hardware and software needs.
  • Maintains computer systems and server room security as defined by corporate policy.
  • Works with host site support personnel to maintain remote applications.
  • Communicates regularly with management to ensure all associated problems and processing requirements are identified in a timely manner.
  • Attends training as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Knowledge, Skill & Ability
  • Requires knowledge of the VOIP telephone system and related software and hardware.
  • Microsoft Office and Outlook, Microsoft Active Directory, Windows and Windows Server Operating systems and, general communication protocol.
  • Programming skills to allow for modification of packaged software startup characteristics, macros.
  • Diagnostic capabilities for all associated hardware, software, and communication lines.
  • Above average verbal and written communication skills.
Education, Licensure, or Formal Training

Experience

5 to 6 years of work experience (typically in computer science or networking).

Equipment & Environment

Material & Equipment Directly Used

Xerox, HP, and Kyocera laser and line printers.
IBM and compatible personal computers.
IBM AS/400.
Wide variety of cables, connectors, and associated tools.

Working Environment / Physical Activities

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Visual acuity sufficient to work at a computer screen frequently and throughout the day, near and far visual acuity, depth perception, color vision sufficient to recognize people, words, and numbers;
  • Sufficient mobility to move about, including standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing/pulling;
  • Crawling in confined spaces in buildings;
  • Lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds frequently, fifty (50) pounds on an occasional basis, and in excess of fifty (50) pounds with assistance. The heavy objects to be lifted include personal computers, printers, and related equipment;
  • Speaking and hearing ability sufficient to hear over phone and carry on routine conversations;
  • See to read manuals, video display screens, and other related material;
  • Drive an automobile and transport equipment and documents;
  • Sit for extended periods in a typing position;
  • Hand-eye-arm and finger dexterity to use a personal computer keyboard, ten-key, and other common office equipment for long periods of time.
