Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming urges residents to check Healthcare.gov for cost savings

CHEYENNE – BCBSWY says the 2020 Open Enrollment period for individual health insurance is more than halfway done. At the end of week 3, enrollment is down from the previous year, according to the Enrollment Snapshot released by CMS last week.

Diane Gore
President & CEO

“The Thanksgiving week is typically a slower week for enrollment, and with it falling on the last week of November, the December 15 deadline will quickly be here. We know many individuals remain uninsured, and we’re reminding everyone in Wyoming who purchases health insurance, to take a look at the health plans available” said Diane Gore, President & CEO at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming.

More than 20,000 people in Wyoming currently purchase health insurance from the Marketplace. According the Kaiser Family Foundation, 9 out 10 Wyoming people enrolled with Healthcare.gov insurance qualify for cost savings.

“Many people may be surprised to find that they are eligible for larger premium tax credits to help pay the premiums, allowing them to obtain more affordable and better coverage. It’s always important to look at your options” said Gore.

Marketplace enrollees satisfied with their 2019 plan will be automatically re-enrolled in the same plan (or one equivalent), so the enrollment number is expected to increase.

Helpful Reminders:

  • The last day to enroll (or change) a health insurance plan is December 15, 2019.
  • Coverage begins January 1, 2020 and all plans cover essential health benefits, pre-existing conditions and preventive care.
  • To ensure your coverage is in place, be sure to make your initial premium payment on time.

With ten offices across Wyoming, BCBSWY offers in-person assistance to help more people takeadvantage of the possible cost savings. “Our mission is to ensure that people in Wyoming get the coverage and peace of mind they need to live their healthiest life”, Gore said.
