Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming names Spicer to Board of Directors

CHEYENNE – Rock Springs native Thomas E. Spicer, MD, has recently been named to the Board of Directors for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming.

“Tom Spicer is well-recognized and highly respected for both his medical experience and his public service to Wyoming. His deep understanding of Wyoming and its rural health challenges will be a valuable asset as we work to maintain access to quality, affordable care for Wyoming residents,” said Rick Schum, President and CEO. “He has served as a physician, a volunteer in community activities, and an appointed member of many boards and commissions, including the University of Wyoming Board of Trustees. We are very fortunate to have him join our board.”

“I look forward to being involved with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming and serving on the board during a time of such important healthcare discussions in Wyoming,” Spicer said. “Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming is a healthcare leader in our state and I’m honored to be working with them.”

In addition to his practice, Dr. Spicer has participated in numerous statewide and community activities including the Western Wyoming Community College Board of Trustees, the University of Wyoming Board of Trustees, the Sweetwater County Airport Board, and the Wyoming Admissions Committee for the WWAMI medical education program for Wyoming students.

Dr. Spicer retired from practice as a plastic surgeon specializing in cosmetic, reconstructive and hand surgery in Rock Springs in 2010.
