CHEYENNE – Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming has recently named Don Claunch of Casper as a member of its Board of Directors.
“Don brings a wealth of healthcare experience to our Board which will be very beneficial as we transition into the new era of healthcare,” said Rick Schum, President and CEO. “We are very fortunate to have a person who understands both healthcare financing and technology, and has a keen understanding of Wyoming and its healthcare challenges.”
Claunch retired from his position as Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Information Officer at Wyoming Medical Center where he had been employed since 1990. He received both a degree in Business Administration and an MBA from the University of Wyoming in Laramie. He also earned a Master of Arts – Theology degree at the Holy Apostles College and Seminary in Cromwell, CT and advanced training from UCLA in 2012.
Claunch has been actively involved in community activities in Casper, serving on the Board of Directors for the Casper Area Chamber of Commerce and Central Wyoming Hospice. He is a member of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives; the Healthcare Financial Management Association; and the CIO Executive Council and is a Certified Healthcare Chief Information Officer of the Year.
