
CHEYENNE, WYO. MAY 1, 2026 — Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming (BCBSWY) is pleased to announce that May 1, 2026, Kris Urbanek officially began his new role as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) following the retirement of Diane Gore.
Urbanek brings more than two decades of experience across the health care ecosystem, including health plan leadership, provider operations, and health care analytics.
He joined BCBSWY more than a decade ago and has held several senior leadership roles supporting provider engagement, medical management, sales and marketing, and strategic partnerships across Wyoming.
Prior to joining BCBSWY, he worked in outcomes research supporting employer health initiatives, consulted with hospitals and physicians on health information technology adoption, and served as a practice administrator for a primary care clinic and imaging center in Casper.
“I’m honored and humbled to serve as the new President and CEO of BCBSWY,” said Urbanek. “BCBSWY is here for our members when they need us most, because health care is personal. We’re committed to making care more affordable and accessible. I look forward to working with stakeholders across our health care system to solve today’s most pressing challenges.”
Urbanek is a proud Wyoming native, he was raised in Wheatland, WY and holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of Wyoming. He has dedicated his career to strengthening health care access and collaboration across Wyoming’s communities.
