Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming Announces New Board Member

 

 

CHEYENNE, WYO– Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming (BCBSWY) has appointed Fred von Ahrens to its Board of Directors. Von Ahrens recently retired as Vice President of Manufacturing for Genesis Alkali in Green River, Wyoming.

“We are pleased to welcome Fred to the BCBSWY Board,” said Diane Gore, President and CEO of BCBSWY.  “Fred brings more than 40 years of leadership experience in manufacturing and operations, along with a strong commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and community engagement. His broad perspective and deep roots in Wyoming will be a tremendous asset as we continue our work to ensure access to high-quality, sustainable health care for Wyoming residents.”

Von Ahrens has spent more than four decades with FMC Corporation and Genesis Energy, holding leadership roles across the country and at corporate headquarters. His experience includes engineering, maintenance, operations, plant management, and general management roles in multiple business units.

Throughout his career, von Ahrens focused on safety, manufacturing excellence, and continuous improvement, while building strong teams and driving operational performance.

“I am honored to join the Board of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming,” von Ahrens said. “BCBSWY plays an essential role in the health and well-being of communities across our state. I look forward to contributing my experience and perspective as the organization navigates the evolving health care landscape and continues to serve Wyoming families and businesses.”

Von Ahrens is actively involved in his community and across the region. He created the Pulse of Southwest Wyoming, an initiative focused on informing regional legislators about business, health, and education issues important to local communities. He also helped form the Southwest Wyoming Manufacturing Partnership, a business-education partnership spanning five counties.

He currently serves as a Board Member for the following organizations: Wyoming State Board of Education, The Wyoming Charter School Authorization Board, the National Advisory Board – UW Art Museum. Von Ahrens is a Leadership Wyoming alumnus, Class of 2012.

Von Ahrens joins 15 other board members based throughout Wyoming. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming is an independent not-for-profit health insurance company headquartered in Wyoming and governed by a local Board of Directors.
