State Sales Manager

Work Hours:

  • 40 per week
  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree desired, preferably in the area of Marketing/Sales. Must be currently licensed to sell health insurance in Wyoming, or able to obtain within three months of hire. Current valid driver’s license is required. Five years prior experience in sales preferred.

GENERAL PURPOSE

  • Generate sales in group product lines of business, either directly or indirectly, through sales staff, and/or Brokers and Consultants.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with group decision makers, to properly represent BCBSWY in the marketplace and to further the marketing objectives of the company.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Marketing and Corporate plans, goals, and objectives.
  • Communicate to group decision makers BCBSWY’s ability to provide services in the form of fully insured plans and partial self-funded arrangements.
  • Recruit, train and motivate sales staff in order to build a professional, productive sales force.
  • Provide input to management of customer needs and requests, competitive activity, market conditions, and the delivery of BCBSWY products in terms of claims processing, billing, and customer service at the local account and member level.
  • Assist management in servicing of vacant sales territories.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works towards quality initiatives.
  • Develop an expert knowledge of the features, benefits, and advantages of BCBSWY group, non-group, life and ancillary products in order to professionally and effectively assist in the presentation of these products to prospects and members.
  • Possess an understanding and working knowledge of the contents of BCBSWY group and non-group contracts as to benefit administration, legal requirements and obligations.
  • Identify key prospective accounts throughout the State and develop plan for acquisition and retention.
  • Travel regularly throughout Wyoming to conduct training activities with sales staff.
  • Assist management in addressing and resolving questions from sales staff on a day-to-day basis.
  • Facilitate communication between management and sales staff.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions.
  • Work in a professional manner with agents and brokers appointed by BCBSWY.
  • Work in a professional manner with key decision makers, consultants and brokers in present or prospective group accounts.

OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Special projects as assigned.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES

Supervise sales staff.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & ABILITY:

Ability to retain existing and procure new ASO, large group and allied lines of business for BCBSWY through effective use of oral and written communication skills, sales technique, and a thorough knowledge of those products offered by BCBSWY and its competitors.

EDUCATION, LICENSURE, OR FORMAL TRAINING:

EXPERIENCE:

Five years prior experience in sales preferred.

MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:

PC, particularly word processing/data software, fax machine, car.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

Works in an open office environment.  Job activities include public speaking, driving, writing, typing, and use of a calculator.  Must meet defined performance goals.  Frequent automobile travel is required.
