Member Service Representative (Full-time)

Work Hours:

  • 40 per week
  • Monday through Friday, Daytime Only (between 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)

Requirements:

  • High School degree or equivalent. Company will provide job related training. At least two years’ experience working in the insurance industry or equivalent customer service experience.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

Working in a member call center, will provide accurate and timely answers to inquiries in a professional manner. May greet and provide service to walk-in customers and/or work the reception desk periodically. Under general supervision, responds to customer telephone and written inquiries. Must be able to comprehend and explain insurance benefits. Must complete a daily productivity report and perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & ABILITY

  • Must be able to comprehend and explain insurance contract language.
  • Must be able to compose letters.
  • Must possess telephone skills.
  • Must be able to work with the public.
  • Ability to operate personal computer and office equipment proficiently.
  • Demonstrates good organizational and time management skills with strong communication skills.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

Works in a member call center and will be required to remain seated, wearing telephone headset for extended periods of time. Must be able to deal with demanding, stressful situations.

ACCESS TO PROTECTED HEALTH INFORMATION (PHI)

Access is broad due to job function requirement of responding to customer and provider inquiries relative to claims payments, eligibility, contract benefits and any other inquiry.
