How Does the Business Transformation Affect Our Providers?

BCBSWY remains committed to our partnership with Wyoming providers to provide the highest quality health care services to our members. Our goal is to reduce administrative processes and offer an easy-to-use electronic portal to make working with us easier and quicker.

What you can Look Forward to

Your New Website – Our new Availity Portal will make it easier for you to manage the care of your patients online. Availity is a multi-payer site where a single user ID and password lets you work with us and other participating payers. There’s no cost to register or use any of the online tools. Availity offers similar core functionality of THOR but in an easier-to-navigate format. Eventually the Availity Portal will replace our existing THOR provider portal for doing things like:

  • Making eligibility and benefits inquiries
  • Submitting claims and review claim statuses
  • Viewing your electronic remittance advice

We’ll be adding additional functionalities to the Availity Portal over time.

New Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) – We will also be using Availity to offer a full suite of EDI health information exchange services through a single online connection to the Availity Intelligent GatewayBCBSWY will offer the Availity Intelligent Gateway to serve as your new method to:

  • Submit claim transactions, member eligibility, and claim status – 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

As a participating provider registered for the Availity portal, you can find training resources, videos and other information. BCBSWY is also partnering with Availity on Portal and EDI services training. We will offer extensive support and webinars to make sure you are comfortable with the new process.

Member Transition Schedule

While these new systems will be available to providers, we will not move any of our current members to the new system until later this year. Some of our members will move to the new system on September 1, 2018, but most of our members will not transition until January 1, 2019.

New Member ID Cards

Every member will receive a new ID card with a new member ID number. The new cards will look very similar to the cards our members have today. We will make sure you know what changes on the new card before our members begin using them.

Communication and Questions

We will share more information as it becomes available. Please check this site regularly for the latest updates and watch for updates in your mail or email.

Further, United Concordia, Davis Vision, Dearborn National, Lifetime Benefit Solutions and
HM Health Solutions are independent companies providing administrative services for
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming clients and members.
